All fishing guides have their “secret sauce” of one sort or another, the thing they turn to when the fishing is tough or they need a little extra luck. Usually it’s a secret fly, or a little known pool they they’ve kept under wraps for a special occasion.
Then, of course, you have the real innovators. One such guide, our friend Ed McCarty, has been known to go to some serious lengths to put his sports into fish, but we’d never seen anything quite like this. Apparently he’s now training local vermin to help him spot the most difficult salmon.
