For sale here is an Art Flick Catskill collectible lot you will find nowhere else.
This Catskill collectible comes directly from the Cardell family. Art Flick was close friends with Paul Cardell from Birmingham, Michigan. Included in the Cardell's close circle of friends was Paul H. Young, a legendary bamboo rodmaker from Detroit, Michigan, and his wife Martha. Paul Cardell also developed a close friendship with Art Flick, notable Catskill fly-tying legend and author of "Art Flick's New Streamside Guide to Naturals and Their Imitations".
I have other letters from Art to Paul that I will share copies of with the buyer. In a letter written a month earlier than the one for sale here, Art explains "The Hendrickson nymph is really tops and recommend you try some in 16's and 18's. It and the March Brown are two of my nymphs that I'm really proud of, but will admit I don't fish them much as I don't like nymph fishing even though it is the smart way to fish. Fortunately, I fish enough that I can fish as I please and it sure pleases me to see those rascals come up to a dry."
It's been said that Art stopped tying and fishing nymphs in the early 70's, so you will rarely find one of his nymphs available for sale.
