A nice FE Thomas Browntone fly rod, 9'6" 3-piece, 2-tip built for what I suspect is a #9 line. Medium action. F59 stamped on the pocket cap. 1940's vintage and very good condition for its age. The varnish is in very good condition with a few light bag impressions and chips. Very straight and a good ferrule fit. Ferrules and pocket cap are oxidized. The cane is brown toned. The heavy wire reverse twist snake guides are wrapped brown. The usual set of Thomas windaways are present and the check and keeper are oxidized. The grip is 7" 14-cork and deeply sculpted in the western style. It shows typical use discoloration. Downlocking screw lock with pocket cap. The spacer is of varnished Spanish cedar. The pocket cap is stamped "Thomas, Special, Bangor, Me" and F59. The reel seat has a pullout plug of ferruled Spanish cedar. The bag has a provision for a fighting butt but alas, it is missing. Blue Thomas bag and aluminum tube with a shield-shaped "Thomas rod" decal.
