A nice HL Leonard Model 39-5 bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. Serial #2267 with a manufacture date of 1974. Light use. Some cosmetic casting cracks at the wraps on the male ferrules and some minor brassing to the inner snake guides. The grip has been cleaned. Medium slow action. Wheatstraw oven tempered cane in the Leonard three up node pattern. The wraps are 326 red with green edges at the keeper and make ferrules. The original owner's name is inked on the rod. Polished step ferrules. The grip is 5 1/2" and shaped to a medium cigar profile. The reel seat is an aluminum downlocking square thread screw lock with a nickel silver pocket cap which is stamped "HLL / HL Leonard Rod Co / Makers". The rod packs into a yellow poplin bag and original tube with the data sticker.
