A nice Leonard Tournament fly rod, 9', 3-piece, 2-tips, built for what feels to me like a #6. Weighs 5.7 ounces. Medium fast action. Ferrule fits are good and the rod is straight. The rod has been refinished. It was dipped and then wrapped over with oversize agate stripping guide, and black stainless steel guides. The tip-tops are large hoop pear shape and do not represent those used at the period this rod was made. The butt female ferrule has the patent date. The mid section is in excellent shape, however one of the tips was broken and reglued together between the ferrule and the first guide. The grip is a 6 1/2" long in a western profile. The reel seat is an uplocking aluminum screwlock with a butternut spacer. The seat uses the large square threads. "Tournament" is stamped square to the mortise for the reel foot and opposite that "The Leonard Rod, HL Leonard Rod Co, Makers" in cartouche and below that "Reg U.S Pat Off". The original bag retains a hang tag (though the print is barely legible) and packs into the original tube.
