A Marc Aroner Hunt pattern salmon rod, 8', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #9 line. 5.5 ounces. Lightly used condition. Fast action. No hand soiling to the grip, some minor ferrule wrap cracking and a few glancing strikes from a hook (none penetrating to the cane), one on the mid, one on the tip, and a few small chips to the varnish on the mid female. Glass smooth varnish with no dust spots. The nodes are done in a three up pattern and tips are mirrored with a medium flame treatment. The main wraps are olive with red edges. The carbide stripper is a #10 the HSS snake guides are black. The step ferrules are oxidized jet black and predate the "pot belly" style I later adopted. I have added my modern brass & cork ferrule plugs. The western-style grip is 6" long with a hidden pocket cap. The uplock screw lock has a mortised birdseye seat with a very high density of eyes (I haven't been able to find wood like that for 30 years). This earlier version of the screw lock features black matte anodizing. The slide is pared off from the nut and there is a black rubber button on a ferrule fitted to the bottom. The rod packs into a khaki poplin bag and a handsome Holland leather tube, which has a 3" detachable fighting butt kept in a bag attached to the outside of it. This is a great model for chasing salmon in a variety of conditions with bombers or smaller wets.
