A rare Mike Spittler bamboo fly rod, 8', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 or #5 line. Serial #179. Medium action. Lightly used condition with some grip soiling and cosmetic casting cracks at the ferrule wraps. The ferrule fits are good and the rod is nice and straight. The original owner's name is inked on the rod. It weighs 4.2 ounces on my scale. Flamed cane done in a three up node pattern configuration. Maroon main wraps with black edges. Chrome snake guides and tip tops. Swiss style ferrules which are oxidized (the oxidation is slightly blotchy on the butt female). The grip is 6" long and shaped to a front-weighted full wells profile. The seat is an uplocking slide band with a hidden pocket cap, and would likely work best with a thin footed reel. The spacer is cork with an oxidized ring and a 3/4" mahogany and delrin spacer at the end. The rod packs into a heavy grey cloth bag and an aluminum tube.
