A Paul Young "Ace" model bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 1-tip, built for what feels to me like a #6 line. 4.9 ounces. Used but good condition. Semi full flexing action. The rod could use a little bit of straightening to put it in top condition. The cane is lightly flamed and done in a two-opposed node pattern in the butt and a random node pattern in the tip. Wrapped red or garnet with a perfection stripper and high arch black snake guides. The varnish is firm and in good condition. The butt does have a small crack the next flat over from the "Ace" lettering about 1" long that goes under the cork grip. The grip is moderately soiled and shaped to a half wells profile. The downlocking aluminum screwlock screws down over a cork spacer and ends in a nickel silver pocket cap with the stamp "Paul Young Co, Detroit. Mich" in a cartouche. The bag is brown cloth with only one tip compartment and comes with an aluminum tube.
