A nice Bob Taylor bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. Serial #118. The rod weighs 3.6 ounces. Used but well taken care of. Medium and to the slow side a bit. The grip has been sanded, the ferrule wraps have casting cracks, and the oxidized hardware has some edge wear. The rod is flamed with two opposed nodes. Excellent varnish on the shafts. The wrap colors are a deep red with black edges at the keeper and ferrules. SRMC #10 stripper with black snake guides and tip tops. Bob’s step ferrules are oxidized and made in the Payne style. The rod sections are serialized. The rod has a Leonard-style cork check (having worked at Leonard with Bob it was a real treat to watch him pop these checks out by hand on a wood lathe). The grip is 5 1/2" long and turned to a medium cigar. The seat is a hand flatted and varnished walnut. The cap and ring are oxidized. The oxidization on the cap is a little patchy due to low strength in the solution as well as some wear. The roller die stamp on the cap reads "R.D. Taylor, Maker." The tan cloth bag is signed by Bob. The tube is a brushed aluminum with brass fixtures.
