A nice Bob Clay (Riverwatch) "Dean's Kispiox" model fly rod, 12', 3-piece, 2-tips, built for a #7/8 spey line. Lightly used, well-cared for condition. The grip shows some minor hand soiling, the screw lock reel seat has a few areas on the surface where the finish has come off, and there is a tiny hook dig on the butt section, but the rod is very clean overall. Pentagonal design, Bob's speciality. This is a spliced joint ferrule model which keeps the rod lightweight. The rod data is inked on the butt including the serial number "19532". Medium full flexing action which should work nicely with a light scandi or skagit setup. Medium wheatstraw cane done in a spiral-ish node configuration. Matte finish to the blank. Wrapped in a light cinnamon color with darker red tipping at the grip, stripping guide, tip-tops, and wraps adjacent to the splices. 13 1/2" top cork grip with composite cork fore and aft. Downlocking screwlock hardware over a wood spacer. "Bob Clay, Maker" stamped into the slide ring along with an outline of a fish on either side. The bottom grip is 4 1/2" with standard cork throughout but composite cork fore and aft (there is also a small aluminum cork check which is part of the hidden pocket cap). You can see the cross section of the blank in the very bottom of the rod. The rod packs into a brown corduroy bag and a brown frost coated tube with the Riverwatch logo and brass fittings. With Bob slowing down his production these rods are getting harder to find, and there is no better way to enjoy salmon or steelhead fishing than with bamboo!
