A Bob Summers Model 856 bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tips, and built for a #5 or #6 line. Serial #4280. 4.8 ounces. Medium fast action. Light use with almost no tanning of the grip. Flamed cane done in a two opposed node pattern. Main wraps done in light brown with an SRMC carbide stripper and black HSS snake guides. The inner surface of the guides shows only a hint of brassing. Light coat of varnish. The step ferrules are oxidized and the rod is factory straight. The grip is 6 1/2" long and turned to a half wells profile. The keeper is on the wrap flat. The reel seat is a downlocking screwlock of aluminum with a nickel silver pocket cap. The wood spacer is a figured walnut. The rod bag packs into a cloth bag with Bob's Traverse City logo sewn on and the ferrule plug attached, as well as frost aluminum tube with brass fittings.
