For sale here is a Bob Summers Model 856 bamboo fly rod. 8' with two sections and two tips for a 5 or 6 weight line. The rod is in excellent+ original condition. Serial no. 6981. The rod features dark mottle-flamed cane. Exquisitely wrapped transparent, caramel brown silks matching the color of the cane. Oxidized guides with a bronzed stripping guide. The script remains clean and bold. Garrison-style hook keeper. Full-wells grip with a taper towards the rear. The cork grip is free of defects. Bright aluminum down locking reel seat with a handsome mortised burl walnut spacer. The butt cap is bright nickel silver and is engraved with, " R.W. Summers Co." "Traverse City, Mi U.S.A." on the backside. Blued nickel silver ferrules are size 15/64 with an excellent fit. Includes finely machined aluminum/cork ferrule plug tethered to the bag for safe keeping. The rod weighs 4 5/8 oz. The action is medium-fast. Stout butt with delicate tips for tippet protection and casts requiring a bit more finesse. Includes original labeled bag and original tube with fine brass fittings. - We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt.
