A 7' Darryl Whitehead 2 piece, 2-tip rod, serial #79. Darryl really pulled out all the stops on this one. The action is a medium-fast #3, a clone of the Thomas Fairy taper. Perfect varnish. Full engraving treatment, agate stripper and leather rod tube. First the grip, western style with 1/4" high quality corks. The reel seat is a cap and ring slide band with a gunstock-quality mortised Circassian walnut insert. Both the cap and ring are fully engraved by Paolo Barbetti and the cap states "Whitehead, Maker, No 79". Flamed rod shaft wrapped in brown with black edges and extra apricot and black edges at ferrules and keeper. Spiral node pattern construction with mirrored tips. No keeper on this rod. Red agate and stripper guide. Swiss-style ferrules with engraving. Red poplin bag and leather case which is stamped "D.L. Whitehead Rod Co."
