Dingley Fly Reel 4 1/4" Caged Spool Fly Reel - with strap over tensioner

For sale here is a rare and highly desirable 4 1/4 inch caged drum reel made by WH Dingley. Another fine example of Dingley's unique and varied check/tensioner configurations. Rarely-found strap over tensioner! Stamped internally D2. Also stamped 2 on the foot. Nicely blued caliper check spring. The reel retains most of its original lead finish. The ivorine handle is in excellent free-spinning condition. The smooth brass (or perhaps nickel silver) reel foot is original and un-filed - 3.8" long. There is no wobble and only a very slight amount of end play which is fairly normal on these reels. The reel has a attention-getting click and the spring is very strong. Gear teeth and pawl are still very sharp. A very fine classic and very fishable or collectible caged drum Dingley reel. Weighs 14.1 oz.
