A nice Ed Fody fly rod, 8', 3-piece, 2-tip, built for a #6 line. Serial number 380-6 with a 1989 manufacture date. 4.8 ounces. Near mint or lawn cast condition. Medium to medium slow action. The cane is done in a dark flame with light nodes in a spiral pattern. Very large agate stripper and bronze snake guides. Wrapped brown with small bands of red, black, and tangerine at the keeper, and red and black at both sides of the swiss ferrules. The ferrules are oxidized. Although the ferrules come with aluminum and cork plugs the top ferrule needs some cleaning to fit properly. The keeper is one flat right. The grip is a very long 7" and shaped into a western profile, and has only about 5% hand soiling. I would presume Mr. Fody has a machining background as the uplocking screwlock is well thought out and well done with a small diamond knurl on the hidden pocket cap and larger ones on the nut and upslide. The barrel is a true acme thread of approximately 10 tpi. The spacer is a mortised and varnished walnut. The rod packs into a tan colored cloth bag and a heavy aluminum tube with a large aluminum collar and bottom. The top is brass with a felt insert.
