A beautiful Garrison 212E fly rod, 8', 2-piece, and 2-tips. M-8-7 serial number indicating a 1969 manufacture date. Excellent to near mint original condition, with no ferrule wrap cracks and very little brassing to the inner guides. Pleasing medium action. Spiral node pattern with resorcinol glue. Later style varnish that is firm and lustrous. The varnish appears to have been rubbed out when it was sold in 1981. The wraps are brown at the keeper and ferrules and amber at the guides. One tip is wrapped red at the tip top and the other green. The grip is a 7" long blunt cigar with a cork reel seat. A one piece formed pocket cap with a knurled slide band ring. The grip and seat have a minute bit of soiling. Super Z ferrules that are polished bright. The ferrule fits are excellent and the rod is very straight. Original bag and aluminum tube with brass fittings. It is very very hard to find a Garrison in this kind of condition and this is one of his most celebrated tapers (when I discussed this rod with Hoagy Carmichael, the first words out of his mouth were "Now that is a GREAT taper"!).
