For sale here is an early Everett Garrison 8' bamboo rod with three tips. Garrison began his coding system in 1931 and Hoagy B. Carmichael tells us this rod was made for a fishing buddy of Garrison's, Elmer Vores. Hoagy dates the rod to approximately 1934. It does not contain a serial number or Garrison's name on the rod. The action is medium fast and excels with a five weight line.
The rod is in solid structural condition with all sections of equal length (or almost!) The pumpkin varnish finish on the rod definitely shows its age and contains a bit of bag residue from a time when the varnish softened. The next owner may choose to have it restored or leave it in as-is condition. The rod is fishable as is. At some point in the rod's life the reel seat hardware was replaced by a prior owner and Hoagy subsequently restored it to original with authentic Garrison components from the 1930s, including the wood spacer made by Garrison.
The rod weighs 4 oz. and the ferrules are size 13/64. One tip has Mr. Vores' initials inked near the ferrule. This tip also has a different guide placement pattern and a slightly beefier taper than the other two tips but it weighs the same overall. Comes with original bag and tube as well as the provenance paperwork detailing the communication between the current owner and Mr. Carmichael. These can be provided to interested parties via email upon request.
Don't miss this opportunity to acquire a unique Garrison rod for your collection!
