A nice FE Thomas bamboo fly rod 10'6", 3-piece, 2-tips (both of which are short). This salmon rod was refinished by Sam Carlson in 1963 and again in 1989 as noted by an inscription inked on the butt section just above the grip. One tip is 1 1/2" short and the other is 2" short. The rod weighs 9.2 ounces. The rod appears unfished since the last refinish. The rod comes with a 5" long detachable fishing butt and a neat little black tenite plug covers the fighting butt ferrule. No manufacture date. The wraps are maroon with bronze reverse twist snake guides. Polished step ferrules. The grip is 6 1/2" and shaped to a western profile, and it has some hand soiling and a hidden pocket cap for the uplocking seat. The wood spacer is unvarnished walnut and the the uplocking screw is all aluminum. The fighting butt is tenite and cork with a black rubber button. The rod packs into a cloth overbag with no tube.
