For sale here is a FE Thomas Browntone bamboo rod -- 8'6" 3/2 for a five or six weight line. Serial No. E215 made in 1944 and sold to Iver Johnson's, Boston MA. The rod is in very good + condition. The varnish has some rubs and small dings. One tip is short 2 1/4" and the mid 1". The short tip has a perfection-style tip-top while the full length has an earlier tip-top. Lovely chestnut brown silks. Triple banding at the male ferrules and a handsome 3-7-3-1 banding pattern at the winding check. The cane is a rich pumpkin color. Ring hook-keeper attached to the blued nickel silver winding check. Payne-style grip, Hardy-style screw down locking reel seat with a fine wood spacer. Weight is 5 1/4 oz. Blued ferrules are size 9/64 and 16/64 with an excellent fit. The classic, generously swelled butt imparts a fast dry-fly action. Big, powerful stick! The rod comes with a replacement bag and what may be the original tube. The cap has a crack but is still functional.
