For sale here is a Hardy Bros. Palakona bamboo fly rod, dubbed "The Itchen". 9 1/2 feet with three sections and one tip for a six weight line. Serial no. A/A, made in January of 1966. Excellent overall condition. All sections are full length and void of repairs. The rod is named for the River Itchen, one of England's most famous chalk streams.
The rod features bright red wraps and emerald green tipping. Full intermediates in red. Clear agate stripping guide and tip-top. The script remains as clean and bold as the day it was written. Ring hook keeper. The full wells grip measures 8 3/4" in length with only light soiling. Aluminum up-locking reel seat over a handsome bakelite spacer with a hard rubber fighting butt. The rubber is void of any cracking or other defects. The oxidized nickel silver ferrules fit together excellently. Original ferrule plugs are included. The rod weighs 7.55 oz. and has a smooth medium action with plenty of backbone. Original Hardy rod bag included. The rod will be shipped with a protective PVC tube.
