A nice H.L. Leonard model 39-5 bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. Refinished by Sam Carlson. Unfished since then. Paper and gum strips still on the grip. High quality dip finished and the rod comes with one of Sam’s brown cloth bags. New non-original rod tube. The tips may have been replaced by Sam also. Blonde cane, three up node pattern. Red main wraps with no edges. Perfection stripper and black snake guides. The Leonard step ferrules fit well and are polished. This rod is ready for another lifetime of fishing. The grip is 5 1/2" and turned to a medium cigar profile. The seat is comprised of a butternut spacer under a slide band and a pocket cap. The die stamp reads: “The Leonard Rod / H.L. Leonard Rod Co. / Makers” and outside the cartouche “Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.” As stated, the bag is one of Sam’s and the tube is
all brushed aluminum, not original.
