If you've never laid hands on a reel made by Ids Schukken, you are missing out. Ids has been making reels for over 25 years and is one of the few who has mastered the skill of crafting fishing reels from titanium. He only makes a few reels a year. This reel is a beautiful example of Id's quality workmanship. The reel has a diameter of 3 1/2" and will hold A LOT of backing, with a spool width of 1.3". It weighs 11.8 oz. The full-palming plate is a seriously cool and unique feature, and the reel's drag "breaks" with zero let-off resistance. The AR8/9Ti is an incredible reel for steelhead, salmon, seatrout, bonefish, stripers, wahoo, 'cuda, roosterfish, whatever, and between the titanium, few stainless fittings, and sealed drag, Ids guarantees it's impervious to saltwater. A swell feature of Ti reels is that if you drop 'em, cuff 'em, ding 'em, scratch 'em, it only takes a bit of polishing to smarten 'em back up.
