A Charlton 8550C fly reel with the super scarce Offshore spool! Left hand retrieve. 4 1/2" diameter with a 1.2" spool width and a weight of 13.2 ounces. It is designed to hold a WF12F and 470 yards of 30#. The offshore spool boasts heat sink fins on the back to help dissipate energy during fish runs. The reel shows signs of moderate use here and there, though the rosewood handle has a full lengthwise crack and will likely need to be replaced at some point. I also tried to remove the spool from the frame to get a look at the inside and, despite having removed many Charlton spools, I simply was unable to remove this one. The reel is perfectly smooth and functions as it should, however, unless you have the Xcalibur-like touch that I lack, this may be a one-spool reel from here on out. As fans know, the 8550C boasts the legendary sealed carbon fiber disk drag that is self-adjusting and has over 9-square inches of surface area. Meticulously coated with a high-polished, deep black Type III anodized finish. Fully machined from high-grade aluminum and steel. Comes with its original green cordura reel case.
