A nice JD Wagner model 273FS Signature Series bamboo fly rod, 7'3", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for #4-5 line. The rod weighs 4.2 ounces on my scale. The maker's name and model/specs are letter on the shaft just above the grip, and the serial number "1008-27" is inked between the topmost guides on the butt section. The rod appears mint and unfished. Pleasing medium fast action. The rod is pin straight. Flamed, slightly mottled cane color, and the nodes are done in a three up pattern. Very nice varnish. Wrapped in reddish/brown and black at the ferrules. Rope style keeper with an agate stripping guide and chrome snakes the rest of the way. Bright ferrules. 6" long grip that's shaped to a medium cigar with rear and front nickel silver slant knurl cork checks. Uplocking nickel silver slide band seat over a handsome mortised and varnished burl wood. The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and a black frost coated aluminum tube with brass fittings and Jeff's maker's sticker affixed to the outside.
