A nice John Bradford Legacy model bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tips, and built for a #5 line. The rod weighs 3.5 ounces on my scale. Serial #1660. The maker, model, rod specs, and serial number are all inked on the rod on successive flats. Medium fast action, edging toward fast. The rod is nice and straight. Very light use and the rod may have just been lawn cast. The grip shows a hint of hand soiling and the inner part of the guides show just a touch of brassing, but there are no reel foot indentations on the spacer or any other signs of meaningful use. Medium wheatstraw cane done in a two opposed node pattern. The varnish is in excellent shape. The rod is wrapped in brown with gold tipping throughout and there are three gold signature wraps between the grip and the agate stripper on the butt. Bronzed guides and oxidized tip tops. Oxidized step ferrules which are in superb shape, and the oxidation has a dark bronzish color. The grip is 6 1/4" with front and rear cork checks and is shaped to a medium blunt cigar profile. The reel seat features an oxidized cap and ring with John's maker stamp on the cap, over a nicely figured and varnished burl wood spacer. The rod packs into a tan bag with a hang tag and brass ferrule plug attached to the top, and a dark brushed aluminum tube with brass fittings and John's data sticker affixed to the outside. The rod also comes with the original paperwork (not pictured) featuring the original bill of sale to the current owner and accompanying correspondence, including a small Bradford logo pin.
