Lyle Dickerson Model 961913 Bamboo Rod 9'6" 3/2 #7

VFT3232

For sale here is a Lyle Dickerson Model 961913 bamboo rod. 9'6", 3/2 for a 7 weight line. Made in 1950. Only three of these models were known to exist at the time the Dickerson book was published. The rod is in excellent overall condition. All sections are full length and straight. Classic 3x3 Dickerson node pattern. Brown silks with black tipping. Dickerson-style loop hook-keeper. Written on the rod are the original owner's name and "1950" on the 4th flat, on the 6th flat is "Dickerson 961913". Script is in Dickerson's handwriting and is clear and bold in black ink. Agate stripping guide, tungsten guides and tip-tops. Cigar grip with a slight Western-style influence - 6" in length. The grip is soiled and a few hook marks are present. There is no ridging whatsoever. Aluminum down-locking screw lock reel seat with a varnished walnut spacer. The rod features a detachable fighting butt in condition equal to the grip. Ferrule sizes 19/64 and 13/64. The ferrule fit needs some work as there is a bit of oxidation getting in the way of a solid fit. The snake guide below the butt section female ferrule is a replacement.  Also, the thread used to re-wrap the ferrule and subsequent guide are a shade darker than the original chestnut silks on the rod. The rod is described as weighing 6 oz. in the Dickerson catalog, actual weight is 8 1/4 oz. with the fighting butt and 6 1/2 oz. without. The catalogue description recommends this rod.. "for Western Steelhead, salmon, (dry fly) bass bugs....". The rod comes with original Dickerson fold-over bag and tube, though the tube cap is missing.
