A Marc Aroner Hunt Pattern fly rod, 7', 3-piece, 2-tip, built for a #4 line. Used but in excellent condition, very straight and with good ferrule fits. The signs of use are soiling to the grip and small cosmetic casting cracks to the ferrule wraps. Fine tips and authoritative action while retaining some flex into the lower butt. I built this rod in the mid 1980's. The cane is flamed with three up pressed nodes of a lighter color. The wraps are a slightly darker garnet than the may rose that was a standard throughout my career. I used this color for about three or four years until I ran out of it. #8 carbide stripper and high arch HSS black snake guides. Small hoop tip tops. Flawless varnish. The ferrules are polished and the truncated swiss style with a collar, slant knurl and two trim marks. The grip is 5" long and shaped in a slim cigar profile ending with a wood Catskill style lip of the walnut burl cap and ring seat. The cap and ring are polished bright and the cap has no roller die stamp that came into use by the end of the 1980's. No ferrule plugs, as I did not supply them at this time (I can add some for a small fee). The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and early polished aluminum tube with FE Thomas style brass hardware I purchased from Sam Carlson.
