A mint Aroner Spinoza model fly rod, 8', 3-piece, 2-tip, built for a #4 line. Mint unfished. Medium fast action. No serial number for this rod as I made it as a one-of-a-kind Spinoza model. It's from the same run of blanks as my limited edition rods in the leather case. This rod is made from pre-embargo cane. It is lightly flamed and oven tempered to match my favorite Payne color and node pattern. The nodes are heat pressed and very small. The taper is one of my own design. The spar varnish is flawless and the wraps are brown with yellow edges. The stripper is an agate and the snake guides are bronze. The potbelly ferrules are oxidized jet black and the fit smooth as butter, not too tight nor too loose. "8' #4" is lettered on the wrap flat. The grip is 6" or 12 corks, all of face cork quality and cut into a medium cigar profile. The front cork check is turned on the I.D. as well as the O.D. to a feather-weight and the style of the Payne check is blended with the hex conforming style of my own design. The reel seat wood is a spectacular Koa burl with three nickel silver rails inlaid in the seat so the uplocking ring never touches the finish. The seat itself is an up-sliding ring and hidden pocket cap intended to put the weight of the reel closer to the fulcrum point of the hand on the grip. The ring is stamped "Spinoza rod, Spinoza Rod Co, Makers" in the cartouche and polished silver. A Payne style acorn of polished aluminum keeps the ring from falling off the mortised seat. The rod is fitted with brass and cork self-lubricating ferrule plugs. The rod bag is fine olive colored poplin with a snap closing pocket to hold the ferrule plugs when the rod is in use. The aluminum tube is highly polished and the brass hardware is all shop made and of a classic style. This is a really rare opportunity to own a Spinoza model, brought about because COVID 19 has forced the owner to part with this jewel.
Note: We are asking that this rod is paid for with a check or bank wire. Thank you!
