A Marc Aroner Hunt Pattern bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. The rod weighs 3.6 ounces. This is a fairly early model of mine. Very lightly used with some slight brassing to the snake guides and a bit of cosmetic cracking at the ferrule wraps. The rod action is a fast DF. These 7'6" 2-piece models were heavily influenced by a 7'6" Halstead rod that Tom Maxwell and I evaluated years ago. Flamed cane done in a three up node pattern. The wraps are a cherry color with orange edges and wrapped with a band of purple at the keeper. SRMC carbide stripper and black HSS perfection snakes. Perfect flawless varnish. The ferrules retain 100% of their oxidation and are the truncated swiss style with a collar on the males with an incised slant knurl and two trim marks. The grip is 5 1/2" long and shaped to a slim cigar profile, and it has been cleaned at some point. The cap and ring seat is done over a dark quartersawn walnut which is varnished and mortised. The cap and ring are oxidized. The rod predates the use of a roller die (early 1980's) and the seat has a wood lip adjacent to the rear of the grip. The rod packs into an Arnie Mason leather rod tube.
