For sale here is a scarce second model Meek 44 german silver, single action fly reel. Introduced in 1899, the Meek 44 is one of the most collectible fly reels desired worldwide. This second model at 2 1/4" diameter features the flat back plate, beaded click switch, sculpted line and reel foot pillars,and a knurled tail plate cap. Straight handle with counterbalance, knurled handle screw, and ivory grasp in fine condition. Over-hanging rim with both outer plate edges sporting fine coin-edge knurling. Marked on the rear plate "B.F. Meek & Sons Louisville, KY. No 44". The reel is in excellent condition throughout and all original. All screws are in fine shape. The click check is smooth and favors right hand retrieve as was intended. The reel foot is full length and unaltered, complete with serial number 2542 representing an earlier 2nd model than most we've seen.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. - Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop).
