A Gary Howells bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. Serial #5910. The rod weighs 4 ounces. Medium slowish action. The rod shows some signs of having been fished, with some odds and ends of stuff stuck to the varnish but that should clean off. The ferrules are tight and the rod is straight. I could find no damage or issues with the cane. The rod is oven tempered with darker nodes in a two opposed node pattern. The main wraps are brown and tipped with yellow. Carbide stripper and chrome snakes and tip tops. The grip is 6" long and styled to a western profile with a hidden pocket cap. The uplocking screw lock spacer is nicely varnished, bringing the quartersawn zebrawood to life. The screw lock barrel and nut are aluminum. The rod comes with a red cloth bag and aluminum tube with the Howells date sticker 100% intact.
