A nice Jenkins GA-79 model bamboo fly rod, 7'9", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. "GA79-10" inked on the shaft. The rod weighs 4.1 ounces on my scale. Nice medium-fast action. Near mint condition with a few tiny reel foot impressions in the reel seat spacer but very few signs of real use. The rod could not have been fished much, and perhaps only lawn cast. The rod is pin straight. Three up node pattern construction and the cane is a light wheatstraw color with a nice and somewhat thin coat of varnish. Wrapped brown throughout with gold tipping. Small hoop keeper and a carbide stripper with black snakes and tip tops. Oxidized swiss style ferrules with the oxidation 99% intact. The grip is 6" long and shaped to a blunt cigar profile. The front cork check is oxidized, while the rear is bright along with the cap and ring reel seat hardware. The spacer is a mortised and lightly varnished cherry. The bottom of the cap has "The Jenkins Rod" lightly engraved into it. The rod packs into a brown cloth bag and a black frost coated aluminum tube with gold anodized aluminum hardware. Nice rod.
