A nice HL Leonard Catskill fly rod model 49-3, 7'6", 3-piece, 2-tip, built for a #3 line. Serial #8098. 3.1 ounces. Used but well cared for condition. The grip is well soiled and the guides show some wear yet the varnish and reel seat are in as new condition. The action is a delicate dry fly. Late Maxwell period, of 1980 vintage. This rod has all of the introductions from Maxwell: no cork check, "Catskill" on a slant under the keeper wrap as well as "49-3" and 8098, a circle guide used as a stripper. The hand flatted butternut reel seat has a wood lip to the grip and the diminutive cap and ring were cut in the shop from nickel silver spun caps. The grip is a shortened 10 cork slim cigar design (it was usually 11 for a 7'6" rod). Wraps are a super light tan with small red edges. As mentioned, the varnish is superb. Packed in a tan cloth bag and Leonard tube. This is a rarely seen model.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
