A Marc Aroner Hunt Pattern bamboo fly rod, 7’6”, 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. The rod weighs 3.9 ounces. As near to mint as you can get and still be used, cast maybe three or four times. There is no cracking at the ferrule wraps and no brassing to the guides at all. Fine tipped fast DF action. Flamed cane with tightly pressed nodes in a three-up pattern. Signature wraps. The main wraps are olive with red edges. The stripping guide is a rare “Perfection #5” and the snakes are antique black HSS with paddle feet. The ferrules are semi-truncated Swiss-style with a slant knurl on the collar and two trim marks for the male, all oxidized jet black with 100% of the original oxidation. The varnish is perfect and glass smooth. The grip is 5 1/2” long and turned to a slim cigar with just a faint hint of hand soiling. The cap and ring on the slide band seat retain 100% of their jet black oxidation, and the spacer is highly figured and varnished koa. There is a very small impression from a reel foot. The ferrule plug is my older all-brass version. The rod packs into a poplin red bag and the tube is polished alum with brass fittings. My two-piece models are pretty hard to come by these days.
