A nice Phillipson “Premium" model “Dry Fly Special” bamboo fly rod, 8’6”, 3-piece, 2-tip, and weighing 5 ½ oz. Feels like it should throw a #6 line well. This rod was made in 1952-3, and was Phillipson’s top of the line rod, first introduced 1947-8. It has the oft-seen elliptical grip and the black anodized down locking reel seat. It carries their bright nickel silver ferrules, all of which fit snugly, and all sections are almost dead straight. The rod has obviously seen very little use, as the varnish is nearly blemish free. It comes in the correct burnt orange cloth bag and the square aluminum case with the “Phillipson” decal in place. This “top grade” model was only made for six years, and this one is in excellent condition.
