A very nice Robert Bolt bamboo fly rod, 8', 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. Serial #1510. The rod weighs 3.9 ounces on my scale. Action is slightly faster than medium, and this is one of my favorite Bolt tapers. The rod is mint and appears uncast. Medium chestnut oven tempered cane done in a two-opposed node pattern. Superb varnish work, no flaws. The main wrap color is a medium brown with yellow edges. Robert makes his own ferrules, plugs, and screw lock seats. The ferrules are overwrapped like Winston and Howells rods. Carbide stripper and chrome snake guides. Brass and cork ferrule plugs. The grip is 6" long and shaped to a sculpted western profile with a hidden pocket cap. The spacer is a handsome piece of varnished zebrawood. The aluminum uplocking screw lock is stamped "R.K. Bolt, Maker", and "R.K. Bolt" is stamped on the ferrule welts as well. The rod packs into a red cloth bag and a frost coated aluminum tube.
