For sale here is an impregnated Orvis Battenkill -- 7'6" 6wt 4 oz. 2/1 bamboo fly rod. Serial no. 45753, made in 1967. The rod is in excellent condition save the ferrule on the tip has been rewrapped as well as the stripping guide being replaced with a non-original and rewrapped in different colored silks. The second tip is not included. All sections are full length and straight. The rod features darkly tempered, impregnated cane with caramel colored wraps, a hallmark of Orvis rods of this era. All wraps are sound as is the varnish, there are no loose guides or cracks. Bright guides. U-shaped hook keeper. All script on the butt remains clean and bold. Sculpted nickel silver winding check. Classic, cigar style grip with a bright aluminum down-locking reel seat and a fine wood spacer. Oxidized ferrules size 12/64, the fit is nice and tight as it should be. Medium-fast action with a good deal of authority in the butt, an excellent streamer rod or all-around western trout rod. The rod is rated for a 7 weight line though a line size down is best with these older Orvis rods. Actual weight on our digital scale is 4 1/8 oz. Includes original grey bag and tube with blue and gold foil label. The label does show wear but remains legible. Don't miss out on this classic rod from the most well known names in fly fishing.
