For sale here is an impregnated Orvis Battenkill -- 8'6" 3/2 7-8wt bamboo rod. Serial no. 10855, made in November of 1949 by Cal Skinner. The rod remains in excellent condition with two exceptions. The script and guide wraps have received a touch-up varnish coat which is a bit sloppy in places. Also, the midsection is short by 7/8". All sections are straight with the exception of a slight set in the mid section.
The rod features browntone Bakelite impregnated cane with transparent caramel colored wraps (one snake guide was re-wrapped) and bright guides. The script remains clean and bold. U-shaped hook keeper. The cigar grip is 6 7/8" in length with moderate soiling though the cork remains smooth. Aluminum down-locking reel seat over an aluminum spacer/body. A bit of light wear to the seat. The blued step-down nickel silver ferrules are size 12/64 and 18/64 with a great fit. The rod weighs 5.55 oz. The action is medium-fast. A true all-around large trout rod.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Your shipping estimate will be calculated at checkout and if you have any questions please contact us. Please note the buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties or fees that may levied. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
