For sale here is an impregnated Orvis Madison 8'9" 2/1 8-9wt bamboo rod with a labeled weight of 5 7/8 oz. Serial no. 67819. Made in 1972. The rod is in excellent original condition. It has received a light varnish overcoat on the guide wraps and over the script and one of the wraps on the third guide from the tip-top has been rewrapped. It is otherwise all original. Both sections are full length and straight. The rod was made with the butt section 3 3/8" shorter than the tip. Rust colored wraps. Bright guides. The script is suffering from a bit of ink loss but it is still legible. U-shaped hook keeper. Aluminum winding check. Classic cigar-style grip 6 1/2" in length. The cork is moderately soiled and ridged toward the top. Bright aluminum down locking reel seat with a lightly varnished walnut spacer. The blued step down ferrules are size 16/64 with a pleasing fit. The actual weight of the rod is 5.95 oz. The action is medium-fast with plenty of power in the butt. The tip is delicate enough to allow for casts requiring more finesse and also provides tippet protection. Though the rod is labeled as a WF10 on the tube and rod, an 8 or 9wt line will fish much better. I cast the rod with a WF8 Rio Bonefish line that felt perfect. The rod includes the original green bag and original tube with green and silver foil label.

- We ship at cost to the buyer and in the majority of cases do so via UPS with full insurance and signature. There are cheaper options but our experience has been that you get what you pay for and that it's not worth taking risks when shipping what are often one-of-a-kind items. Due to the importance of packing items carefully please allow up to two weeks for arrival (depending on how busy we are) though we certainly do our best to get items to you as expeditiously as possible.

Other Terms
- Unless otherwise noted, all items come with a 3-day inspection period during which they can be returned to us for a full refund (provided that they are in the same condition in which they left our shop). Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If an item is returned, we will issue a refund within 10 days upon receipt. Refunds will be either administered by providing a check or, when possible, by canceling a credit card purchase.
