A nice Payne model 100 bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 line. 3.1 ounces. Medium fast action. Full length and expertly refinished with perhaps the ferrule oxidation being the only thing that doesn't quite match what would have come out of the Payne shop. Original guides and agate stripper were used in the restoration. The varnish is superb. Brown wraps with yellow edges, extra band of purple at the keeper and male ferrules. Agate stripper and high arch snake guides. The step ferrules fit well. The grip is 5" long and a medium cigar profile. The cap and ring reel seat wood looks more like walnut than spanish cedar. The cap as the older die stamp "EF Payne, EF Payne Rod Co, Makers". All the rod sections are straight. The rod is packed into a brown poplin bag with no hang tag. The rod tube looks a lot like the Payne original but could be a modern replacement.
