A nice EF Payne model 200 fly rod, 8', 3-piece, 2-tips, built for a #5. 3.8 ounces. Fairly full flexing action. Rated for a #5 line I wonder whether you could speed it up a bit with a #4 as well. The rod condition is used but in good original condition. There is some wear to the inner snake guides and a bit of grooving to the tip tops. The varnish is excellent, I suspect it may have been polished as there are small chips evident to the ferrule coating but not the rod shafts. Wrapped brown with yellow edges fore and aft, and at the tip tops (yellow, brown, yellow), and a band of purple at the keeper and male ferrules. The ferrule fits are perfect and retain 95% of their oxidation although there is some chipping to the finish. Minor casting cracks at the ferrules. The stripping guide is a perfection so the rod dates to the late 1950's. The grip is 6" long done in a medium cigar profile and has a tiny bit of erosion from cleaning. The reel seat is a Spanish cedar slide band cap and ring. Both retain 90% of the original oxidation. The butt cap is stamped "Payne" in a cartouche and "Reg US Pat Off". The bag is the original olive poplin with the hang tag intact. The tube is also original with the grey felt in the cap and the Payne sticker below the collar. I've come across relatively few of these model 200's and this one is a great example of a good all-around model in a slightly fuller flexing design than many Paynes.
