A nice EF Payne bamboo fly rod, model 205, 8'6", 3-piece, 2-tip for what feels like a #5 or #6. 5.2 ounces. Medium fast action. Refinished in very good usable condition. One tip is a replacement as it is glued with resorcinol glue and is a 3 up node pattern. The rod has seen little use since the refinish and there is little indication of guide wear. The grip is 6" long and shaped to a medium cigar. It has been cleaned and is somewhat ridgy on account of this. The reel seat is a Payne favorite of mine (I have even made some copies of the seat) a downlocking screwlock with an aluminum acorn and a nickel silver pocket pinned to the acorn barrel. The screw barrel is 10 threads per inch and the nut has a neat little finely knurled bit of decoration trim and is raised for easy grasping. Unfortunately pliers have been used on the knurl at some point. Comes in the original bag (but no hang tag) and original tube. A hard-to-find Payne model in good usable condition.
