A Per Brandin model 866-2 Special Tournament bamboo fly rod done in a staggered ferrule design. 8'6", 2-piece, 2-tips. "Brandin", "866-2 Special Tournament", and "Trout Fly 2/92" lettered on successive flats on the grip. Quad construction with a spiral node pattern, and the cane a light wheatstraw color. Medium fast full flexing action. Excellent used condition with some soiling to the grip and the tips could use some very minor straightening. The varnish is in good shape throughout and the ferrule fits are nice and tight. The rod is wrapped in a light cinnamon with black tipping at the ferrules and front cork check, and there are three signature style wraps in a 2-3-2 succession on the butt. There are two tips for this rod, marked "A" and "B", with the "B" tip utilizing single foot guides for the top 8 guides including the tip-top. 6 1/2" grip down in a Powells style profile and which has a fair bit of hand soiling from use. Aluminum downlocking screwlock seat over a wood spacer and the bottom end of the cap is wood as well. The rod utilizes a bamboo section that inserts into the staggered butt ferrule for packing purposes (it too, is marked "Branding Special Tournament" on one facet) and it packs into a tan poplin bag with stiffener and an aluminum brass topped tube with a tan outer bag with a foldover tie top.
