A very nice RD (Bob) Taylor Model 35-5 bamboo fly rod, 7'6", 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #5. Serial number "293". Lawn cast only condition. The rod weighs 3.8 ounces on my scale. Pleasing medium action. The rod is straight and the ferrule fits are good. Medium wheatstraw cane done in a two opposed node pattern. Flawless varnish, with the sole exception being a tiny bit of roughness right at the base of the keeper ring (very minor). Bronze wraps tipped in light red, with an extra band of dark red at the keeper and male ferrules. Carbide stripper with dark guides and tip tops. Oxidized ferrules. The grip is 5 1/2" long and shaped to a medium blunt cigar profile. The reel seat is an oxidized cap and ring over a flatted and flawlessly varnished wood spacer. The cap sports Bobby's maker stamp in a cartouche (there is a tiny bit of oxidation loss at the edge where the barrel of the cap joins the end, as sometimes happens). The rod packs into a tan cloth bag and a frost aluminum tube with brass fittings and Bobby's business card taped to the outside. A superb example by this masterful builder.
