For sale here is a Merrick-era San Francisco RL Winston bamboo rod - 8 feet, 2/2 for a 4 weight. 3 1/4 oz. Excellent condition. There is one invisible wrap on one of the tips. Both tips are full length and all rod sections are straight. Tube is not original and is missing its cap. Perfect ferrule fit (size 13). Other than the one invisible wrap, there are no structural issues with cane, silk wraps or components. I'd say it's on the medium side of "medium fast" action.
What make this rod super interesting is who the rod was originally made for -- the late Mel Kreiger, author and avid tournament fly caster. See Mel's bio here. It's possible this rod spent many days with Mel on the ponds at the Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club.
