For sale here is a Winston "Leetle Feller" bamboo rod - 7' 2/1 for a 3 weight line. Serial #6989. San Francisco era rod. The tip is 1" shorter than the butt section. The rod is in excellent+ refinished condition. There is a slight set in the tip section. Straw-colored cane. Bronze wraps with burgundy tipping at the signature wraps, ferrules, and tip-tops. The winding check is wrapped in burgundy thread with bronze tipping. Bright guides. Carbaloy stripping guide. The original owner's name appears above the grip along with the usual rod information. All writing on the rod remains bold and clear. Bronzed ring hook-keeper. Classic bakelite winding check. Half wells grip with light soiling. The grip is also a bit ridged and the upper grip includes some evidence of having been used as a hook keeper. Bright aluminum cap and ring reel seat with mortised cork spacer. Scripted weight and the actual weight of the rod is 2 1/2 oz. Size 11/64 ferrules. Ferrule fit is perfect.
The 1977 Winston catalog describes the "Leetle Feller" as,
"They are designed to make short, very accurate casts on small streams where extreme care in line presentation is desired. The Leetle Fellers arewell designed rods for serious anglers to fish #3 or #4 lines under 50'."
The catalog describes the rod as having a medium action though I would describe it as being medium to medium-fast. Includes replacement bag and original tube with 50% of the label remaining. A lovely San Francisco Leetle Feller to collect or fish!
