A nice Ron Kusse Beaverkill quad model fly rod, 7'6", 2-piece, 2-tip, built for a #4 or #5 line. Serial #0152. Fast DF action. Weighs 3.5 ounces on my scale though the hang tag lists it as 3 3/4 ounces. Quad construction. Near mint condition with a small amount of brassing to the inner guides. Flamed cane with a 2-up node pattern. Given the larger size of the nodes I presume there were belt sanded rather than pressed. Excellent varnish with brown wraps on teh guides with black edges and an extra band of red, then black at the keeper, female ferrule, male ferrule, and tip-tops. Ferrules are squared out to the bamboo and oxidized, with Ron's tiny die stamp "Kusse" in oval cartouche on the female ferrule. The 5 1/4" slim cigar grip is swaged down to the bamboo without a front cork check. The reel seat has a wood lip as the rear cork check in the catskill style. The reel seat is mahogany flatted with an oxidized cap and ring. The butt cap oxidation shows a little brassing to the edges and is die stamped "Ron Kusse, Maker". The ferrule fits are good and all sections are straight. The rod packs in a grey cloth bag with a black crackle pain aluminum tube with a gold anodized aluminum top and collar.
