A gorgeous Sam Carlson "Four" bamboo fly rod, 8', 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 or #5. Serial 774-482, the 4th rod made in 1977. The rod weighs 4.1 ounces on my scale. Mint condition, with no grip soiling, no ferrule cracks, and no brassing to the guides that I can see. Maroon main wraps with black edges at the keeper and ferrules, 3,2,1 black signature wraps. Black stripper and black HSS snake guides. The ferrules are oxidized and coated with varnish. The grip is 6 1/4" long and squared to the tenite front cork check and shaped to a western profile. The seat is hand flatted cork with a perfectly oxidized ring and pocket cap. The rod packs into a tan colored cloth bag and the aluminum tube still has its original brown craft paper wrapping on the outside. A just superb example of a rod by one of the best to ever do it.
