A Sam Carlson / Thomas Rod Co one piece bamboo fly rod, 5', built for a #4 line. 1.6 ounces and serial #1106. Hexagonal construction. I can't find any sign of use. The rod is varnished with chrome guides and tip tops. The main wraps are maroon with red and black windaways separated from the mains, and a set of four off the keeper wrap. The grip is 5 1/2" long and shaped to a western profile with an all cork flatted seat with Sam's delicate oxidized cap and ring. The rod comes with a tan cloth bag and the original all aluminum tube. I believe this was one of six rods in this configuration that were built, and finding one in this kind of superb condition is rarer still!
