A Sweetgrass bamboo fly rod, 7'3", 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 line. Serial #2001. The rod weighs 4.1 ounces on my scale. The original owner's name is inked on the shaft, as is "Sweetgrass" as well as the rod specs. Crisp DF action. The grip shows just a trace of soiling but I could find no other meaningful signs of use, so I suspect this rod was lawn cast or at most used very sparingly. Light wheatstraw colored cane done in a two opposed node pattern. Apricot colored main wraps with dark red tipping at the keeper, signature wraps, ferrules, and tip tops. The ferrules have the customary overwrap with the apricot giving them a bronze appearance. The keeper is a rope knurl and the rod has an agate stripper with dark snakes and tip tops. The grip is 6" in length and shaped to a western profile with a cane front cork check and a nickel silver rear one. The reel seat is a nickel silver downlocking screwlock over a varnished pale burl wood. The nickel silver reel seat hardware has some general oxidation loss throughout which looks to be from time rather than use. The rod packs into a maroon cloth bag and a cream frost coated aluminum tube with bright aluminum fittings along with the Sweetgrass sticker on it.
